Handstand push-ups

The handstand push-up is an advanced movement that requires coordination, balance, and lots of practice. The handstand push-up can be done strict as shown above or kipping as shown below. Both options will strengthen the shoulders, triceps, and chest, with the strict variation being the best for building strength and muscle and the kipping version being best for moving quickly and building whole-body coordination.

If you’re not quite ready to do handstand push-ups against the wall, you can scale by doing handstand push-ups on a box. These can be done kneeling on the box as shown at approximately 0:42 in the video below or standing on the box which is shown at approximately 1:30.

If you're not able to support yourself upside down, please substitute seated dumbbell presses. This movement will help strengthen the same muscles as the handstand push-up but without the dangers that come from supporting your bodyweight upside down.
