The downward-facing dog stretch is a wonderful, rejuvenating stretch for the whole body. Widely recognized by even non-yoga enthusiasts, it strengthens the arms and legs while providing a great stretch for the hamstrings, calves, and shoulders. Most people will not be able to touch their heels to the floor when in this stretch, so if that is an issue for you, don’t worry. If you have trouble getting into the pose from the floor, try elevating your hands on yoga blocks or a weight bench instead.
