Goblet squats are the perfect introduction to weighted squats for most people. Like air squats, goblet squats build muscular strength in your lower body. Some people even find them easier than air squats! The weight of the dumbbell or kettlebell can help you sink lower into the squat and can also be used as a counterbalance to help when standing back up. To perform a goblet squat, hold a single dumbbell or kettlebell with both hands at chest level and squat like you would for an air squat. Goblet squats can be performed to a target such as a plyo box or a wall ball if you struggle with achieving proper depth in your squat. The goblet squat demo begins at approximately 1:10 in the above video. If you are not comfortable performing goblet squats, please do air squats instead.
