Though performing a deadlift may sound intimidating, it is actually one of the most functional movements you can learn. We need to pick things up from the floor all the time in our real lives, and it is helpful to know how to do so safely. Engage your core and keep your back straight. Do not rush through any set of deadlifts as it is very easy to strain your back if you perform deadlifts with poor form. Begin with a light weight kettlebell and work up to heavier weights as you become more accustomed to the movement.
