The plank is a fantastic core exercise to add to your core conditioning repertoire. It can be done anywhere with no equipment required. The plank will not only help tone your midsection, but it also improves your posture, muscle coordination, and back health.


The plank can be performed on your hands or forearms. Do whichever is more comfortable for you. You can also switch back and forth between the two during a workout. Make sure you engage your whole body during the plank to reap the maximum benefits from this movement.


Once you have mastered the basic plank, you can attempt some of the more advanced versions of this movement. Try adding some of these plank variations to your repertoire:
