Superman holds

Writer's picture: EllieEllie

The Superman hold gets its name from the position your body takes at the top of the hold. With your arms and legs lifted, you will look a bit like you are flying through the air, but you will also be getting a great lower back workout that will help prevent back pain and improve your posture. Try not to rush when working through a set of Superman holds. Though many of our workouts will be done for time, the Superman hold is most beneficial when done with slow, controlled movements.

Some people will find it difficult to actually get their arms and legs off the floor. Just do your best and trust that your height will increase with practice. You can also try lifting only one leg and one arm at a time. If you try this variation, count lifting your right arm and left leg as your first repetition and lifting your left arm and right leg as your second repetition.
