Not everyone feels comfortable training with a barbell. A wall ball squat clean offers many of the same benefits as its barbell cousins - developing speed, strength, power, coordination, and balance - but without seeming nearly as intimidating. To perform a wall ball squat clean, squat with the wall ball between your feet and your back flat. Stand all the way up in one fluid motion, shrugging your shoulders and keeping your arms straight. As you then drop into a squat, shoot your elbows upward and rotate your hands around the ball. Use the wall ball lacings as a tool to perfect your technique. The lacings should not move as you perform your clean. If they do, it is a sign that you are curling the ball with your bicep muscles rather than rotating your hands around the ball. Try to keep the ball close to your body as you perform the movement, and be patient with yourself as you learn. You will get smoother, quicker, and more coordinated over time.
